Freed, who had attended a special missions conference four years earlier in Switzerland and thought he was going to be a missionary to Spain. His country focus was right, but God would redirect his method. Instead of telling people one-on-one and face-to-face, Dr. Freed was led of God to consider radio as the means of telling people about Jesus.
